If your ready for total hair freedom then Sisterlocks will be perfect for you! It is a journey of patience and commitment but yet so rewarding, versatile and simply beautiful. This service is done as a “package” and requires 3 visits; consultation, install and a follow up appointment.
First Visit: The Consultation
This consultation is essential in getting your SL started and ensuring that they are done in the best way for you and your hair. You and I will sit for about 30 mins to 1 hr and discuss your personal hairs history lifestyle, and your expectations in order to determine if Sisterlocks are right for you. We will also discuss why you want SL, your knowledge of SL, and I can answer any questions you may have. We then will then install approximately 6-10 tester locks for your to get a feel of what its like to wear SL. You will be quoted a price and if you so decide that this is something you’d like to do a non-refundable $100 deposit will be due to set you date. We know that the price may seem a little expensive and we wouldn’t want that to stop you from achieving beautiful hair so we offer a payment plan for your convince, the final payment must be made 2 days before appointment date.
- Come in with CLEAN NATURAL HAIR! No oils, conditioner, or moisturizer. No heat, blow dried hair. Just the your God given natural hair in all its glory.
Second Visit: The Locking Session
From my own personal experience, my SL install was 14 hrs. We initially said we’d split it into 2 days because my husband works nights but once we got closer to quitting time she (my consultant) informed me that we could knock it all out in one night (I drive an hour to get my hair done) it was perfect to save me a trip the next day so I got my Mom to watch my daughter for the night.
Your session maybe just as long or longer. That all depends on your hair length, texture, and time. We can take up to 1 to 2 days. Just like at your consult, we want you to come in with clean, product free hair. I am a little tender headed and my natural hair is very thick and I knew it would kill me while she was parting my hair so I did do a slight blowout after shampooing it— NO CONDITIONER.
While this service is done in done in multiple days full payment will be required at the end of day 1. It is also important that you come alone. No guest or children to avoid ay interruptions. We will also break for about 1 hr for lunch and to move around.
At the end of your install you will be provided you with a Starter Kit including the SL shampoo for starting your locks, tiny rubber bands for braiding and banding and tip sheets with info for on grooming, shampooing and what to expect while your locks settle in. Lastly, before you leave schedule your follow-up visit. While SL are very low maintenance, a good maintenance routine is key to have those babies flourish and grow over time.
- Before Your Install:
- Wash hair 24-48 hours ahead of time. Do not use any conditioner.
- No products. No oils, gels, etc.
- Comb out hair.
- Come in comfy clothes.
- Find a sitter if needed and/or get dropped off. Just please come alone.
- If you decide that you want to color your hair please do so before your install.
- Get some snacks, entertainment (iPad, books, laptop, etc), and don’t forget you chargers.
- Neck pillow or butt cushion for comfort.
Third Visit: Follow-up
This is the last and final step in your SL package. Before this visit should have had at least two shampooings, (2 weeks after install, and then another 2 weeks after that) which is usually within one month from the date of your install. When you come in I will monitor the integrity of your locks, tighten them up and give you an idea of how long the settling-in process is likely to take.
All future retires should be scheduled every 4-8 weeks.
